“Angel in the Mirror: Road to Recovery” is the second edition to my memoir which tells the story of my life with Schizoaffective Disorder from the 80s and 90s through to present day. It is raw, honest, educational and makes for an eye-opening read.
I think for me, my first book “Girl in the Mirror” was vey much a rough draft of what I really wanted to say and what I would go on to say in my 2nd edition “Angel in the Mirror: Road to Recovery“.
In terms of my mental health, I was still a juvenile when I wrote my first book, and in some sense I now feel somewhat ashamed of what I wrote. At the time it was very raw and honest and I realise now that what I wrote could be triggering for some. My second book “Angel in the Mirror: Road to Recovery” is a lot more well thought out and considered and includes in it more of what I hope would be educational and helpful to the reader. It includes a chapter written by my mother to give a carer’s perspective as well as a chapter by myself on what I hope would be educational information to the reader. If I had to recommend just one book, I would say go for “Angel in the Mirror: Road to Recovery” as it is not so triggering, and includes more help for the reader.

Reviews for Both Books
“Lumi has presented with great candour and honesty a range of very personal and heart-wrenching accounts of her life. It’s hard to imagine how one overcomes such adversity, let alone goes so far as to write a book for the benefit of others – giving them hope.”
